Following a combined strategic session between the new board of Cape Town Tourism and the City of Cape Town, Cape Town Tourism has received a three-year tourism marketing and visitor services mandate effective 2013-2016. The contract includes a service level agreement and is a positive move for tourism marketing, giving Cape Town Tourism long term funding stability to allow for greater strategic planning.

Cape Town Tourism is deemed to be in the best position to deliver on Cape Town’s tourism marketing services due to its existent infrastructure and experience – which includes strong relationships with the tourism industry, trade and media, as well as tourism marketing and tourism services during the World Cup; a pertinent factor ahead of the 2014 World Design Capital year.

Sabine Lehmann, recently appointed chair of the Cape Town Tourism Board, welcomed the agreement; “The City of Cape Town committed to conclude a three year agreement with Cape Town Tourism by March 2013 and has tabled the agreement four months ahead of schedule. The advantage of a three year mandate is that we will be able to effect a long term vision whilst also maximising the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with key partners and service providers. We look forward to working with the City of Cape Town to fully realise Cape Town’s tourism potential.”
