In Maratua, East Kalimantan builds up sustainable tourism

In Maratua, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has developed sustainable tourism with a mission to understand the Blue Carbon for Community Welfare Program.
The head of the implementation team, Meiliana, said on Sunday that in this program, there are four crucial things that they are aiming at. Firstly it’s the growth and expansion of sustainable tourism in Maratua. Secondly, to get improved public convenience to the island, both in terms of air and sea
transport, and thirdly, to meet the need in terms the fundamental infrastructure facilities like clean water, roads, electricity, and docks.
Fourthly, help for institutional growth and fortification and sub-district and local regulations.
Meiliana also mentioned that in Maratua, tourism development is the main concern as the region has immense natural and marine potential.
She stated that in Maratua, tourism development has got perked up since During the 2nd East Kalimantan Summit in Samarinda City in 2014, the provincial government signed a MoU with Seychelles.
Between the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Seychelles Government, a cooperation agreement happened on September 10, 2015, she said. On April 23, 2016, a national seminar was organized to talk about the growth and development of East Kalimantan tourism.
